Hemp and the Golden Radio build Brand Protection™: HempWood's Greg Wilson

Hemp can be used for nearly anything! We've shared articles about researchers at RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) uncovering that a hemp compound has the potential to be stronger, more durable, and longer-lasting than traditional rebar. Recent guest Mattie Mead explained how his company uses hemp in insulation.

Now, we're learning how hemp flooring is building an HGTV celebrity-endorsed business called HempWood®. Greg Wilson says it's the "why" behind his hemp-based wood flooring that he's hoping will continue to earn supporters. So far, it's working- HempWood® was even installed in recent MTS Podcast guest Franny Tacy's retail CBD locations.

What is his "why?" As Greg put it, "sustainability" before it became a buzzword. Pair this with his obsessive use of the Golden Ratio (also known as the Fibonacci sequence) to produce HempWood® while pulling carbon from the atmosphere, you've got a story worth telling and an audience eager to hear more.

You can listen to the whole 30-minute conversation on the Move the Stairs™ podcast with Greg here. Or, get right to it with Greg's top three Move the Stairs™ takeaways:

Move the Stairs Moment 1: Be true to your hemp products and so will your customers

Greg paints himself as an "outdoors" guy, with a deep passion for environmental conservation. He talks the talk and walks the walk in his products, citing a commitment to sustainability. How do you think your customers identify with your brand?

Move the Stairs Moment 2: Got an interview? Don't wear a collared shirt

Sometimes, the best interviews are the ones where you toss formalities out altogether. (The exception is during times of crisis- but that's a different story!) Greg's best piece of advice is simple: be your authentic self, speak from the heart, and you'll enjoy success.

Move the Stairs Moment 3: No part of the hemp plant goes to waste

There's almost no industry whose companies must be adept at making change more than those operating in cannabis. From regulations (or lack thereof) to Covid-19, and supply chain complications, businesses like Greg's face adversity in a multitude of ways. Fortunately for Greg, his solution fits like a LEGO® piece in his company model.
